Use car shoppers can now research VINs with a new iPhone app.
This is a great technology. Used to, when you went to purchase a used vehicle, you had to write down the VIN and do the research on your own. Older folks didn’t have the Internet. Most car buyers today, however, at least had the luxury of being able to research used car VINs online. But you still had to write the VIN down and go home.
Now, when shopping for a used Nissan, you can do your VIN research on the spot and finish your transaction without ever leaving the car lot.
The iPhone app works by scanning the VIN with the smartphone camera installed on the phone. As an alternative, you can manually enter the VIN or license plate number and issuing state and generate an instant report.
So what information can you find out with the iPhone VIN app? You can find out how many previous owners the used Nissan has, where the car was titled, and access any dealer service records that have been reported for the vehicle – all from your iPhone. Plus, more.
