Chevy Dealership Warns of Sirius XM Rate Hike

Monday, January 26th, 2009

If you wanted to get Sirius XM Radio installed in your new car once you buy it from your Union area Chevrolet dealer, now is the perfect time to do it. Sirius XM Radio recently announced the prices are going up for new and renewing subscribers.

The price hike is planned to occur on March 11. Therefore, if you want to avoid the additional $2 charge and $2.99 fee for Internet radio, you can buy a three-year subscription now and lock in your current rate.

Sirius XM Radio is raising its prices to help pay off some of the debt the merged company has accumulated. And since Sirius XM Radio is the only service of its kind, they can pretty much do whatever they want to do because there is no competition for customers to consider.

Satellite radio has many benefits. Many stations are commercial-free and you have many more options to choose from than you do with terrestrial radio. If you can afford the subscription rates, satellite radio is a perfect addition to any new or certified used car that you purchase from your Chevy dealership. Check it out today and you’ll be hooked! Just be sure to do it before March 11 for the best available subscriptions rates.

Chevy Dealership Offers Winter Driving Safety Tips

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Your Chevy dealership knows that winter driving can be treacherous at times. As a result, we’d like to offer some winter driving tips to help you stay safe on the roads.

1. Be prepared. Make sure you have your car tested before winter or do it now if you didn’t do it before it started getting cold. Have the battery, tires, wipers, coolant, heater and other fluids checked to ensure everything is in proper working order.
2. Keep emergency materials with you. In case you get stuck, you’ll be glad if you have some essential items, including a first aid kit, extra clothing, shovel and a flashlight. Also, cat litter is ideal for putting under your tire to help your car gain traction on the snow and ice and get unstuck.
3. Slow down. You never know when you’re going to hit a patch of black ice. By slowing down, you are more likely to maintain control of your vehicle and prevent sliding.
4. Get some gadgets. A GPS device can help prevent you from getting lost and it can help you find help if you get stuck. With a car from your Union area Chevrolet dealer, you can get the OnStar system and get emergency help with the push of a button.

Monday, November 24th, 2008

The place to find the 2009 Family Car of the Year is at your Union area Chevrolet dealer. The 2009 Chevy Traverse was given this award by the Southeast Automotive Media Organization.

The organization, also known as SEAMO, was founded in 2001. It includes the top auto industry journalists in the Southeast. On top of the Family Car of the Year Award, it also offers a yearly award for the North American Concept Vehicle.

The award, which is now in its seventh year, looked closely at 21 different family vehicles. The journalists who are members of SEAMO participated in a ride and drive event. Afterward, they turned in test-drive ballots to choose the winner.

The journalists used several criteria for their ratings, all of which have to do with family-friendliness. They considered Styling, Ergonomics, Amenities, Value, NVH, Accessibility, Capacity and Safety. Each vehicle had the potential to earn up to 100 points.

The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse earned a score of 89.5 points in the balloting. During an award lunch at the Charlotte Auto Show, Chevy’s Zone Manager for the region, Tim Groves, accepted the award. He is quoted as saying, “The first crossover in the Chevy family was designed with innovative safety features as well as the ultimate functionality needed to accommodate virtually every lifestyle — particularly families. So, we are pleased SEAMO recognized this and selected us for this prestigious award.”

Winter Car Care Tips from your Chevy Dealership

Monday, November 17th, 2008

When you’re out this winter driving your car from your Chevrolet dealership near Union, there are some things you should be aware of. No matter whether you’re driving to visit relatives or just driving to work, keeping these things in mind will help your winter travel be safer and better all around.

Take, for example, snow removal. Everyone removes ice and snow from their windows in order to see. However, you should also take care to get the ice and snow off your roof and your hood. When there’s snow on your hood, it can break off, fly up and impact your window. The snow from your car’s roof can do the same thing to the car traveling behind you.

Another element of winter car care that often gets missed is tires. If you live in a snowy area, you should probably get snow tires to be used during the winter. If you get snow tires that are on their own rims, it makes storing and switching them that much easier.

Finally, keep your fluids full during the winter. Keeping your gas tank full will make it so there’s less condensation in your gas line, thereby helping to prevent freezing. It’s also important to make sure your antifreeze, wiper fluid, steering fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid and oil are all full, as well.

like the previous version, a hybrid model is available. This model uses a four speed transmission, and it pairs an electric motor alongside a gasoline engine. The hybrid will turn off the gas engine when the vehicle is stopped, and will greatly improve the city mileage for the vehicle.

Number of passengers

The biggest concern, of course, is fitting everyone into a vehicle. If you have children alread and don’t intend to have more, you probably have a good idea of how many seats you’ll need. Safety features

Safety is another important consideration. You want to make sure that there are, of course, safety belts for each person. If you have young children that are in car seats or in booster seats, check for equipment that accents these add-ons, such as the LATCH feature. Take note of how many air bags there are, and where they’re located.

Storage

Just because a vehicle can fit yoru family doesn’t mean it can fit their belongings. Make sure your vehicle can store your posessions for a trip, if necessary.

Chevy Dealership Talks New Car Buying

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

When you go down to your Chevrolet dealer to buy a new car, it can get to be a bit overwhelming. There are many different things that go into the process of choosing a vehicle. Sometimes, it can be hard to know how to begin.

Here are some of the things you need to think about when you’re buying a new car at your Chevrolet dealer:

  • Size. You want to make sure the car you buy is big enough for your passengers. If you have five children, for example, you’re going to need a very different car than if you just need a commuting vehicle. In addition, you need to make sure there’s enough space for any cargo you might need to haul.
  • Type of driving. If you have a long daily commute on the highway, you probably want to get the most fuel efficient car you can get. On the other hand, if you do most of your driving in the city, you might consider a hybrid as they get much better city gas mileage.
  • Transmission. If you don’t know how to drive a stick shift or don’t want to learn, make sure you get a car with an automatic transmission.
  • Safety. Figure out what safety features are important to you. If head side curtain airbags are important, ask about having them added to the vehicle.
