New Jeep And Off-Road Association Forming

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Every day in the United States, the locations where a Jeep off-roading fan can go to enjoy his or her hobby is shrinking. Misinformed politicians, for example, create legislation that bars off-roading from public lands, thinking that they’re protecting the environment, or for other political reasons.

Up until now, off-road enthusiasts haven’t really had a way to try to address these concerns, at least not on a national level.

That is all about to change, if Jeep Jamboree USA has anything to say about the situation.

It was recently announced by Jeep Jamboree USA that they will be creating a new off-road organization. The organization will be known as the “National Off-Road Association (NORA).” The purpose of this organization will be to provide a voice for off-roaders in public life.

It is Jeep Jamboree USA’s hope that this organization will be backed by some of the biggest names in the off-road retail industry. The organization will hire lobbyists to work at state and local levels to make sure that off-roaders’ concerns are heard by the government.

On top of that, the association intends to help fund research about the impact that off-roading may or mayn not have on the environment.

NJ Chevrolet Dealers To Get Silverado Hybrid Pickup

Monday, September 29th, 2008

When you think about buying a hybrid Chevrolet car at your NJ Chevrolet dealer, you probably don’t think about buying a Silverado pickup.

The Silverado is a workhorse, and is known for its power. Hybrid vehicles, in contrast, aren’t usually known for their power.

Somehow, the Silverado manages to deliver. This full-size pickup gets 21 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg on the highway. Compare that with the standard model that gets 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, and you’ve got quite a fuel savings.

Now, what’s important to remember about a hybrid pickup like the Silverado is that it will accelerate up to 30 miles per hour on electric power alone. After you hit 30, the gas engine kicks in and helps out. The system manages to blend the gas and electric motors effortlessly. The Active Fuel Management system lets a portion of the gas-powered V8 rest when there is a light load.

Accelleration on teh vehicle is fine, and the 2009 Silverado Hybrid pickup has handling, steering, and braking very much like the standard version.

The 2009 Silverado Hybrid pickup can tow up to 6,100 pounds. It will firs be available in 2009 in a crew cab version. Come visit your NJ Chevrolet dealer today, and we can help you find just the vehicle to meet your needs.

Electric Jeeps For Sale in 2010

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Chrysler announced recently that they are going to be offering a new series of electric-drive vehicles. Each of its brands – Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep – will have their own electric-drive vehicle to be produced in 2010. In addition, in 2009, it is estimated that there will be 100 Chrysler electric vehicles on the road in a variety of capacities, such as development fleets, government, and business.

THe Jeep EV vehicle is designed to be a true Jeep vehicle, with all the capabilities of a regular Jeep Wrangler. it’s thought that the Jeep EV should be able to have normal off-road capabilities, for example.

The Jeep EV will use an electric motor that runs on a lithium-ion battery system. In addition, it will have a small gasoline engine that will generate electricity, enough to power the electric drive train when it needs to. It’s suggested that the Jeep EV will have a range of 400 miles on only eight gallons of gasoline. It should also be able to go 40 miles on pure electric operation, with zero emissions.

This announcement comes not a moment too soon. competitors, such as General Motors, are planning new electric vehicle releases over the next two to three years, as well.

NJ Chevrolet Dealer Offers Advice For Starting A Cold Car

Friday, September 26th, 2008

As we quickly approach the winter months, your NJ Chevrolet dealer wants you to be ready. it’s worth taking some time to think about one of the most common problems in cold weather: getting your car to start.

A cold engine may have trouble starting for a number of reasons. First of all, the cold weather causes your oil to become thicker. Like any other liquid, oil changes consistency when it gets cold. If you have an oil that isn’t the right weigh, it can make it difficult for the oil to circulate in your system. One way to overcome this is to follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for oil weight. Another optoin is to use synthetic oil, which doesn’t get thicker in cold weather.

In addition, you might have problems starting your car in the winter because of the battery. Batteries tend to lose some of their capacity in the cold, and the battery can, eventually, stop giving enough of a charge to start your car. For this reason, one of the most important things you can do when you’re preparing your car for winter is to have your battery tested. If it’s near the end of its life, replacing it may mean the difference between your car starting in winter or not.

If you’re in the market for a new Chevrolet car, come see us. We’re your local NJ Chevrolet dealer, and we’ve got just the car to get you through the winter months.

When Is It Time To Replace The Tires On Your Chevrolet Vehicle?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Your Chevrolet vehicle’s tires are as important to your driving as your feet are to you walking. The fact of the matter is that your car will run much better and you’ll have better control of the vehicle when tires are in optimum condition.

Not only that, by keeping your tires in good shape you can avoid having a blowout and being stranded. Keep an eye on your tires so that you know when to replace them.

Why tires go flat

The fact of the matter is that tires wear out. When you’re driving your Chevrolet car, your tires generate heat. This heat causes the tire, over time, to deform. The more you drive, the more your tires will become worn out. They lose a part of their tread. As this happens, your ability to control the vehicle lessens, as well, and can make your vehicle more susceptible to accidents.

When to replace your tires

The simplest answer is that you should replace your tires when the treads get too low. You can test your tires using just a penny. Put the penny down in between the tread of the tire. If Lincoln’s head comes up above the tread of the tire, you need to replace it.

In addition, tires have something called “wear bars.” These are molded indicators that you can see on the pattern of the tread, and they also indicate it’s time for the tire to be replaced.

2008 Wranger Among The Best Jeeps For Sale

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

The Jeep Wrangler is unlike any other vehicle for sale on the market. The Wrangler features, for example, a windshield that can be folded forward onto the hood. No other vehicle on the market can boast of that feature, other than Jeep vehicles.

There are other features to the Jeep, however, that are more practical. For example, the 2008 Jeep Wrangler has a ground clearance of 10.2 inches. It has a steep angle on both approach and departure. The short wheelbase also is a unique element. All of these features work together, for example, to make the Jeep Wrangler one of the best off road vehicles on the market.

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler has a soft Sunrider top as standard on the Sahara and the Rubicon models. Both have optional remote ignition. The Sahara package is available for both the two-door and the four-door version of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Best of all, you can get a state-of-the-art navigation system to go in your Wrangler, as well.

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler has superior ability for off-roading, and is amazingly fun to drive around town, as well. Add to that the rough-and-tumble image that comes with the Jeep and the camaraderie that comes along too, and the 2008 Jeep Wrangler is a great choice of vehicle.

The Newest Addition To Chevrolet Cars

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

One of the newest of the Chevrolet cars to come out of Detroit will be the Chevrolet Traverse, expected to hit Chevy dealers in 2009.

The Traverse is a great alternative to full- or mid-size SUVs, much like the Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook, and the GMC Acadia.

The auto show version of the Traverse, however, has a secret. The Traverse comes in an all-wheel driver version, in addition to a front-wheel drive version.

Why is that a secret? The Chevrolet Traverse doesn’t have the AWD or FWD lettering on the back of the vehicle, on the rear hatch lid, as most vehicles with AWD do. Well, at least the model at the Chicago auto show doesn’t have one.

There are, however, ways to tell whether a particular Traverse is all-wheel drive. For example, there’s a sticker on the window when you buy it that will tell you. You can look at the differential underneath the vehicle. Perhaps the most fun way to tell if it’s all-wheel drive is to take off fast on a snowy road. If it doesn’t slip, you’ve got an AWD.

The easiest way is to look at the VIN number. The VIN number as an “R” if it is a FWD, and a “V” for AWD.

Safety Tips For Your Jeep

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

One of the most exciting things that you can do in Jeep vehicles is to take it off the beaten path, and into the wild. Off-roading in your Jeep can be fun and exciting, if you know what you’re doing and you know how to properly prepare for your trek.

Here are some things to think about when you decide to take your Jeep and put it to the off-road test:

Plan your path

Know what’s coming up ahead. Survey a road or path before you enter it so you’re not surprised by a cliff or a dead end. Don’t only rely on trail maps to tell you where obstacles will be, because surface conditions can change pretty regularly.

Drive within your ability

Make sure you take your time driving on the trail, so that you can pick a smooth path and you can react to changing terrain. If you go too fast, you could cause all sorts of problems, from a hole in your oil pan to knocking off your oil filter.

Go down inclines safely

When you’re going down hills or steep terrain, drive straight. If you drive diagonally, you greatly increase the possibility that you will have a rollover accident.

Cross obstacles one wheel at a time

This helps your Jeep to be able to climb over the obstacle more effectively and safely, and it decreases the chance that yoru Jeep will get stuck.

Return Of The Ultimate Chevy Vehicle

Friday, September 19th, 2008

When it comes to sports cars, the ultimate Chevy vehicle has to be the Corvette. Quick, sleek, and stylish, the Corvette captures the imagination of young and old alike.

The pinnacle of the Corvette was, for many enthusiasts, the ZR1. Produced in the early 1990s, the ZR1 was probably the most elegant and best performing Corvette ever.

The good news is that the ZR1 is back for the 2009 model year, and it’s better than ever.

The new ZR1 features a 6.2 liter V8 engine with an Eaton TVS Supercharger, as well as intercooler. The 638 horsepower LS9 supercharged engine produces 604 lb.-ft of torque. On the test track, the new ZR1 reached speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour. That makes it probably the fastest Chevy vehicle in production today.

It isn’t only speed that the ZR1 is known for, though. This car is the ultimate in style. It has a front air splitter, carbon fiber roof, domed hood, and dual cove front fenders. The new ZR1 even has a window to the supercharger in the hood.

The inside of the Corvette ZR1 is just as slick as the outside. There is a boost gauge in cluster, and there’s also a Heads-Up Display included. The 4LZ package includes a custom leather-wrapped interior. Bluetooth is standard on the ZR1.

Come check out your local Chevrolet dealer today, and find out more about the return of this great American car.

New Jeep Options For Families

Friday, September 19th, 2008

When you think about a Jeep, you very rarely think about a family car. Jeep is known for cars like the Jeep Wrangler. Jeeps have always been meant for offroad adventures, and have always been a bit rough around the edges.

Well, there are several Jeep vehicles today that don’t fit that stereotype, and that are perfect for a family car. Here are a few examples:

Jeep Commander

This is a high-end Jeep SUV. The Commander is full of premium features. On this vehicle you’ll find chrome accents, leather and wood trim, three rows of seats, 15 different cargo and seating configurations, and all sorts of optional gadgets and luxury items.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has plenty of off-road capability, but you won’t think about it once you’re sitting inside. It has comfortable seating, with plenty of room, and is fine for town driving.

Jeep Compass

Like most other auto manufacturers, Jeep offers a crossover. This car is much bigger on the inside than you’d think, and it gets amazing gas mileage. It gets 23 miles per gallon in the city, and 28 miles per gallon on the highway. Unlike other Jeeps, the Compass isn’t even available in a 4×4 version.
