Back in June, I and my good friend and colleague from DealerBuilt – Mike ‘The Car Guy’ Correra met up at the 2019 Automotive CX Summit at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, California. Our mission: To find out what this boutique and exquisite event is all about.
Mike was not familiar with the event which is ironic because he’s always pointing out that of all the industry events and conferences we have these days, he seldom if ever sees a real appealing one near his neck of the woods in Riverside. When I had informed him about this Summit, a silence ensued, followed by a great cheer.
Ok, may I am exaggerating a bit. But there is some truth in what I’m telling you.

- Gary Tucker, CEO at Zubie who moderated a panel at the Summit about ‘Flexible Ownership & Innovative Mobility Models.’ In the video, I prompt Gary to talk about the idea of consumer data as a currency.
- John Gottschalk, SVP at LotLinx who joined me and Mike for the live-streaming Summit recap. In the video, John emphasizes the crucial role that individual dealers have in their local communities.
“The car business drives our economy,” Gottschalk says. “I don’t think that will ever change.”
About the Summit
What’s appealing about the Summit is it’s emphasis on ‘Consumer Experience’ with mostly hi-tech firms and progressive dealers.
Companies are transforming their businesses through CX Management as they anticipate massive changes in the industry over the next 10 years due to emerging technology and new entrants redefining how consumers shop, buy, own, use, and drive. Addressing this challenge requires both the technology to digitize and automate processes and the strategies to leverage data, customer insights and cultural change.
