Auto Review: 2011 Lexus CT200h Luxury Hybrid

It’s been trendy in recent years for auto manufacturers to roll out some new hybrid vehicle designed to provide maximum gas mileage while turning the planet green. The latest to hop on the eco-bandwagon is Lexus with its 2011 Lexus CT 200h. An impressive car indeed.

The difference between the Lexus hybrid and most other hybrids on the road is that you get green driving technology along with performance, a sporty look, and the characteristic Lexus luxury.

2011 Lexus CT 200h

The engine block is a 1.8-liter four cylinder engine that generates 98 horsepower and 105 pounds-feet of torque. The electric motor is an 80-horsepower motor with a generator and a 202-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack. The total horsepower generated by the CTs power sources is 134 horsepower.

One of the cool features of the 2011 Lexus CT 200h is it offers multiple driving modes. Those modes are EV, Eco, Normal, and Sport.

In the EV mode, you can go all electric for up to one mile, but you have to keep the vehicle under 25 mph on flat paved surfaces. Normal mode makes full use of the continuously variable transmission and allows you to adapt to continuously changing driving conditions. The Eco mode allows you to achieve the highest possible fuel efficiency with 43 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. The Sport mode persuades the vehicle toward greater performance and handling.

The 2011 Lexus CT 200h is a fun-to-drive hybrid with a lot of class and world class panache.
