Due to potential brake problems, Honda has initiated a recall of nearly half a million vehicles. The U.S. division of Honda said that 471,820 Odyssey and Acura RL vehicles made between 2005 and 2007 are affected by this recall, which stems from an issue that may result in weakened brakes and increased braking difficulties, potentially resulting in crashes.
Occurring only days after Toyota announced a similar recall of 740,000 Avalon, non-hybrid Highlanders, Lexus RX330, and Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 vehicles, Honda’s explanation of the recall echoes Toyota’s, with both automakers claiming that leaking brake fluid may lead to decreased brake performance.
According to Honda, “A leak of brake fluid could lead to a change in brake fluid feel and, overtime, a degradation in braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.”
All affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at Honda dealers.
