Free2Move Car Sharing: Groupe PSA Debuts Mobility Services App in USA

Free2Move Car Sharing and Mobility Services App Debuts in USA

Groupe PSA has launched its inaugural market in the USA for Free2Move, a car sharing and mobility services app. The program was kicked off in Washington D.C. at the end of October 2018.

The French multinational manufacturer is well-known for its vehicle brands, Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall. Groupe PSA brought in help from an array of industries, including developers, marketers and user experience professionals to create the platform.

While Washington D.C. is its first US market, Free2Move already provides mobility services to a dozen other countries. Their services include cars, scooters, and bikes.

Free2Move Car Sharing and Mobility Services

The Free2Move car sharing and mobility services app consolidates information from a variety of resources and gives users the ability to comparison shop. Users can compare prices, availability, ratings and car sizes in order to find a service that gives the perfect fit. Users can then book directly through the app, removing the hassle of multiple account logins for users.

Since Free2Move is all about mobility, its platform also offers options beyond car sharing. This includes bike and scooter rentals so users can choose from a truly diverse collection of mobility options, including Bird, Capital Bikeshare, car2go, Jump, Lime, Skip and Uber.

We talked about this recently on the AutoConverse ON AIR live weekly broadcast with Autoline Host John McElroy. See the From the Horseless Age to the Free2Move Mobility App piece right here on AutoConverse.

The D.C. launch is part of a larger plan to roll out the service across the country. In a news release Larry Dominique, Groupe PSA North America president and chief executive, laid out the plan.

“The launch of Free2Move Carsharing in Washington D.C. is our first step in the deployment of our 10 year plan for a North America entry, as part of our Push to Pass strategic plan,” he said.

“Our unique ‘service first’ launch strategy allows us to pragmatically re-enter this market thoughtfully and with a greater understanding of the retail marketplace and its consumers’ needs.”

Free2Move clearly has big plans – and plenty of confidence. Considering the amount of travel that happens in and around the nation’s capital – particularly around the holidays – their launch will show how well the platform works during one of the busiest times of the year.
